The creative experimentation of Maltinto at Milano Design Week 2025

In a continuum of research and experimentation, for Milan Design Week 2025 Society Limonta presents “MaltintoUnconventional Gestures”: a selection of bed linen, table linen and accessories reinterpreted through spontaneous and bold dyeing techniques in a colour palette including 303 Miele and 11 Grigio. The capsule collection will be available in the Brera flagship store from 8 to 13 April 2025.

Dyeing, with its dynamic soul charged with expressiveness and memory, becomes a tool for creative experimentation, a means through which refreshing one’s own vision. Gestures, attempts, traces create an unconventional finished product which is expressive and deliberate exploration of unpredictability. Maltinto celebrates the unexpected and lets colours define shapes and textures.

The essence of fabrics, clean and even after garment dyeing, becomes informal, fluid and spontaneous after the maltinto process, which involves an uneven absorbance of colours. The finished products present variations of chromatic intensity, which represent a feeling, an invisible gesture. The artisanal technique of airbrush, used on a selected amount of pieces, allows colours to be absorbed in a free and guided way at the same time, enhancing the qualities of yarns and weaving and creating cosy chiaroscuro effects. If the maltinto process is industrially carried on in the same big washing machines where the garment dyeing happens, with airbrushing, the human and artistic touch becomes a skilful element that guides colours from afar.

Because of the finishing, each product of the capsule collection is unique, made on industrial looms and featuring unexpected tone variations.
